Fearless Solo Hiking: How to Stay Safe

Women should not be scared to hike alone.

Sure, it's normal to feel a little bit of fear and anxiety when first venturing out on a solo hike, but that the more you do it, the more comfortable and confident you will feel.

Here are some solo hiking tips from this video.

  • Have a plan and let someone know your route. This is important for everyone who hikes, but especially for solo hikers. Make sure someone knows where you are going and when you expect to be back.
  • Trust your gut. If something feels wrong, it probably is. Don't be afraid to turn around and go back if you feel uncomfortable.
  • Be prepared. This means having the right gear, including plenty of food and water, as well as a first-aid kit and a good route plan. It also means being aware of your surroundings and the potential hazards you may encounter.

Hiking solo is empowering and rewarding, I'm here to help you hike safely in the backcountry, solo or with a group.
